Tree Pruning Services
Tree trimming and pruning is the most common practice in the tree care industry. Trees located in forests require very little pruning or maintenance. However, trees in urban areas require scheduled maintenance, such as trimming, pruning and shaping throughout their life cycle. Structural pruning is necessary, especially for younger tree, to help reduce co-dominating stems and to remove undesirable branches such as crossover limbs.
This practice will continue as the tree matures along with the proper removal of any deadwood, decayed branches, sucker growth, cutting away from the structure, separation from other trees or plants, along with establishing a balanced limb level height.
Tree pruning should only be practiced by a trained and Certified Arborist under the ISA (International Society of Arboriculture). Topping of trees is one of the worst things you can do to a tree and is not a common practice in the industry. A light shaping of most ornamental trees (such as fruit trees or conifers) is the exception providing the cuts are minimal. Contact a Brown Tree Service Certified Arborist for a free assessment on all your pruning needs.
Fine Pruning consists of:
- Removal of dead wood, dying or diseased wood.
- Pruning of sucker growth.
- Removal of interfering and objectionable branches as well as selective thinning of broken and crossed over branches.
- Raising of limbs to help clear height to enhance vigorous lawn growth beneath trees.
- Shaping of fruit and pine trees where applicable.
- Removal and disposal of debris.
A Certified Arborist possesses the technical competence and experience that best qualifies him to manage and maintain the care of your trees.

We had a great experience with Brown Tree Service. We noticed two large SIberian Elm trees were in bad shape and in close proximity to our house. We contacted Brown Tree via their website and received a response back almost immediately. Ken came out a the following Tuesday (original contact was the Friday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend) and emailed us a quote that night. We returned the signed contact that Friday and work was completed the following Wednesday. We had requested that they leave firewood behind from the removal to which they stacked it in our wood rack for us! BTS even offered to relocate the stump mulch to nearby planting beds at no additional charge. So very impressed with this company and would absolutely use them again for future tree care! Everything looks great.
Great service Great price Outstanding results
Efficient and Fast
A few weeks ago we contacted Brown Tree Service for a quote, Ken came out the next day and delivered the quotes the following day via e-mail. Efficient and fast! The work was to be done in a couple of weeks, the following week we had a terrific wind storm which snapped a large branch that was hanging over our neighbor's fence. I called Ken and he came out that same day and sent an emergency crew out the next day. They consisted of a highly skilled 4 man crew and a piece of equipment called the "Spider" Within 5 hours they had removed the snapped limb and trimmed up all the trees we contracted for. Our trees have never looked this good in the 28 years we have lived here. I highly recommend Brown's tree Service for their professionalism, skill courtesy and knowledge.
We have used Brown Tree Service in years past with tremendous and successful results. Last week they trimmed our 3 very large maples and honey locust trees. Outstanding job. Knowledgeable, communicates well and they educate their customers
We were very happy with Brown Tree Service. Had an emergency and they removed our tree with ease. Thanks!
