Tree trimming and pruning is the most common practice in the tree care industry. Trees located in forests require very little pruning or maintenance. However, trees in urban areas require scheduled maintenance, such as trimming, pruning and shaping throughout their life cycle. Structural pruning is necessary, especially for younger tree, to help reduce co-dominating stems and to remove undesirable branches such as crossover limbs.

This practice will continue as the tree matures along with the proper removal of any deadwood, decayed branches, sucker growth, cutting away from the structure, separation from other trees or plants, along with establishing a balanced limb level height.

Tree pruning should only be practiced by a trained and Certified Arborist under the ISA (International Society of Arboriculture). Topping of trees is one of the worst things you can do to a tree and is not a common practice in the industry. A light shaping of most ornamental trees (such as fruit trees or conifers) is the exception providing the cuts are minimal. Contact a Brown Tree Service Certified Arborist for a free assessment on all your pruning needs.

FINE PRUNING CONSISTS OF:

  • Removal of dead wood, dying or diseased wood.
  • Pruning of sucker growth.
  • Removal of interfering and objectionable branches as well as selective thinning of broken and crossed over branches.
  • Raising of limbs to help clear height to enhance vigorous lawn growth beneath trees.
  • Shaping of fruit and pine trees where applicable.
  • Removal and disposal of debris.

A Certified Arborist possesses the technical competence and experience that best qualifies him to manage and maintain the care of your trees.
